The African-American experience through the history of Fredericksburg, Virginia mirrors that of the nation's. That history is marked by immense suffering and astounding injustice, and yet its story has endured thanks to its participants' ingenuity, perseverance, and community-building.

This tour can't possibly give you the complete picture of African-American lives and cultural influence on Fredericksburg since their forced arrival in 1619, but it's an often unflinching look at that history.
